MY IDEA

What is my idea of a relationship?

My idea of a relationship is faithfulness,

Staying true and honest,

Whether seen or not.

Being contented with my partner,

Even when the grass seems greener on the other side.

And when tempted to cheat,

Simply asking, whats different that is on offer?

What is my idea of a relationship?

My idea of a relationship is working together.

Building on my effort, complimenting my weakness.

Giving me the morale, to make a bigger leap.

When I seem defeated, hold my hand, and let me know, that we will live to fight another day.

Celebrating our high points, and turning our low points to stepping stones to victory.

What is my idea of a relationship,

My idea of relationship is effort,

My idea of relationship is commitment.

Appreciating that communication is two way.

Taking time to understand how I am.

Knowing that when I say “am good” and “am okay” may not necessarily mean I am so.

Knowing that true love is reciprocates,

Thus taking time to reciprocate my kind gestures.

What is my idea of a relationship?

My idea of a relationship is a prayer partner.

One who understands that,

Firm marriage foundations are built on heavenly principles.

One who will not draw me away further from God,

But will draw me closer to God.

One who understands that, God is not the guy next door.

One who does not frown, at the thought of fellowship,

But is always happy in the presence of God.

What is my idea of a relationship?

My idea of a relationship is a listening ear.

An ear that will be ready to listen,

Without whining or complaining.

An ear that will listen, without necessarily having to say anything.

An ear that will listen, when everybody else is talking.

What is my idea of a relationship?

My idea of a relationship

Is having a relationship with the one you love,

Besides being in a relationship.

And making the relationship,

To be indeed a relationship!

PURPOSE

Sometimes, when I sit down, I give my mind freedom to take a stroll. Take a stroll on any highways of it's choice. Now, sometimes I give my mind strict instructions on the highway it has to take, particularly when that highway has got so many black spots, to avoid a potential catastrophe, and sometimes I trust it to walk down some lanes unaccompanied. Some lanes that are self governing with speed bumps, traffic lights and traffic officers.

On this particular night, my mind is accompanied. The choice of highways is safe to move on. It's the highway of my life. As the mind takes a stroll, I ask myself questions.

Whats my purpose in life? Why was I created? Was it by coincidence or design? Am I living my life or am I leaving my life?

Was my purpose to be a successful researcher? Was my purpose to have a beautiful wife and kids? Was my purpose to have good eduction? What was my purpose in life?

Looking around me, some situations are splendid just like some are sorry. Some circumstances are radiant just like some are pathetic. Some people are happy just like others are sad.

When we have floods, I may not be the champion to rescue the flood victims.
When we have hunger, I may not have bread to feed the masses
When we have war, I may not have shelter for the refugees

But I believe there are things I can do

With my mind, I will not think evil of my neighbor
With my hands, I will pick one person up, who has fallen and dust him off,
With my ears, I will listen to he who wants me listen
My legs will carry me to my neighbor with a distress call
WITH MY TONGUE, I WILL TESTIFY OF THE GOODNESS OF GOD!

May my hands exalt thee oh Lord
May the words of my tongue be a living testimony
May my Legs run towards thee Lord
May my mind think more of you and less of this world
May my heart love you and only you.

Mathew 25:40 And the King will say,"I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to Me" (NLT)

My purpose is to make Your name glorious!!

Be strong

I need strength, even as am writing this, strength to hold me to the last full stop. Life comes packaged in various forms, of laughter, joy, anger, resentment, appreciation, disappointments.....a cocktail of sorts. Sometimes we get all we want to have, sometimes we loose, what we have acquired, and sometimes, our wishes are just but a mirage.

We may have wanted to be better than what we are today, but this is the best that we could be given the circumstances. The doctor who became a farmer, the lawyer who became a teacher, the engineer who became a policeman....

We are parents, we have trained our children in the best way possible, shown them the ways of the Lord, given the best education, but they have disappointed, conceived out of wedlock, absconded their careers.

We are children, we have wished for a loving family, we have wished for tender loving care from our parents, we have wished for an opportunity to attend even a "green school" academy aka under the tree class, but we carry around the tag of street kids.

We are teachers, we dedicate our all, we want the best of our students, we train them for the future, we mold them towards there careers, the students, won't see the need to work hard, mediocrity is their cup of tea.

We are workers, working more than our job descriptions, working to make our organizations better places, motivated by the objectives, our organizations won't recognize our efforts, our bosses see us as a threat, we facing the risk of a sack, we just wont get that promotion.

We can not give up, we have to be strong. I borrow Mary Marys lyrics, we can not give up now, for we've come far from where we started from, nobody told us the road will be easy and I don't believe God has brought us this far to leave us alone.

We have to be strong, when we feel unappreciated, appreciate, when we are hated, love, when we are overlooked, recognize, when we feel trampled on, elevate.

A better day is coming, when the least shall be elevated, the last shall be the first, the rejected stones shall become the cornerstone, a better day...

I have good plans for you, declares the Lord.

Be strong!

Planning

Some things are beyond planning.
And life doesn't always turn out as planned.
You don't plan for a broken heart.
You don't plan for a failed business venture.
You don't plan for an adulterous husband.
or a wife who wants you out of her life.
You don't plan for an autistic child.
You don't plan for spinsterhood.
You don't plan for a lump in your breast.

You plan to be young forever.
You plan to climb the corporate ladder.
You plan to be rich and powerful.
You plan to be acclaimed and successful.
You plan to conquer the universe.
You plan to fall in love - and be loved forever.

You don't plan to be sad.
You don't plan to be hurt.
You don't plan to be broke.
You don't plan to be betrayed.
You don't plan to be alone in this world
You plan to be happy. You don't plan to be shattered.

Sometimes if you work hard enough, you can get what you want. But MOST times, what you want and what you get are two different things.

We, mortals, plan. But so does God in the heavens.
Sometimes, it is difficult to understand God's plans especially when His plans are not in consonance with ours.

Often, when God sends us crisis, we turn to Him in anger. True, we cannot choose the cross That God wishes us to carry, but we can carry that cross with courage knowing that God will never abandon us nor send something we cannot cope with.

Sometimes, God breaks our spirit to save our soul.
Sometimes, He breaks our heart to make us whole.
Sometimes, God allows pain so we can be stronger.
Sometimes, God sends us failure so we can be humble.
Sometimes, God allows illness so we can take better care of ourselves. Sometimes, God takes everything away from us so we can learn the value Of everything He gave us.

Make plans, but understand that we live by God's grace.
